Since 1921, Science news has been sharing the excitement of scientific discovery with schools, libraries and individuals. Originally known as Science News-Letter, the magazine quickly grew into a prime source of daily and weekly science news and features for individuals and schools.
Whether it’s an image of a star stripped of its outer layers before exploding in a supernova or an artist’s rendering of the landscape in which Gilbert White lived, our stories provide glimpses into exciting research and discoveries. Each week, we interview scientists involved in the research and feature their insights. We also explore the ways in which science is part of everyday life through Science in Everyday Life.
Founded in 2003 as Science News for Kids and redesigned 10 years later, our award-winning online publication has been renamed as Science News Explores to better reflect the broad spectrum of STEM research covered by the news site. We continue to fulfill the Society’s mission to engage and inspire students by connecting current scientific research to learning both in and out of classrooms. To aid educators, many stories contain a Next Generation Science Standards code and a readability score. In addition, a number of stories have an adapted version for more advanced readers published separately by Science News.
